Boost Creative Clarity This New Year

As we enter the new year it’s important to take stock of the previous year to assess wins and losses to boost creative clarity this new year. Think about what you succeeded at and where you totally fell flat. I love to find a cozy place, with pen and notebook in hand, to write out my thoughts and plans for the year ahead. Whether it’s a new home project, lifestyle change, planning a party or business idea – memorializing intentions is a great way to stay on track. Also, it’s such an amazing feeling to be able to cross accomplishments off as you go.

The new year always comes with feelings of renewed intentions and possibilities. Ride that wave as long as possible to enhance your creative clarity. Another thing I like to do is to speak about my plans out loud. Speak your intentions out to the universe. Something about hearing them out loud makes them more real. This is not about a New Year’s resolution that we start and lose steam within 2 months. This is about keeping ourselves consistent and accountable. Here are 5 ways to boost creative clarity this new year.

Set Specific Goals to Enhance Your Creativity

It’s important to have clear and specific goals in mind when trying to boost your creative clarity this new year. This will help you stay laser focused and motivated. For example, what is this new project? the parameters? How long is the timeline? how much is the budget?

Experiment and try new things

Don’t be afraid to experiment with your work. This can help stimulate your creativity and give you a fresh perspective. Also, go ahead and take a risk – you really never know where things will lead. Once you put a pinky toe in the water you will be able to put in a whole foot within no time.

Taking Notes

Surround yourself with inspiration

Surround yourself with things and people that inspire and motivate you. This might include artwork, music, or other creative media. Also take a walk and observe the world around you, or visit a museum or art gallery to stimulate your creativity. Definitely surround yourself with other creative people. Working with other people can help you to think more creatively, as you can bounce ideas off each other and build on each other’s thoughts. I always find that my creative cup is enhanced after meeting with other creatives.

Take Breaks to Boost Your Creative Clarity

It’s important to give your mind a break so it can rest and recharge. Stepping away from your work for short periods of time can actually drive your productivity and creativity in the long run. Don’t forget to get enough rest. Getting enough sleep is crucial to enhance creative clarity. Try to get at least 7-9 hours of sleep per night to ensure that you are well-rested and ready to tackle the day ahead.

Practice Mindfulness

Taking time to focus on the present moment can help clear your mind and improve your ability to think creatively. Sometime thinking about a full project can be overwhelming. Break the project apart into micro projects. Probably more manageable that way.

Finally, embrace mistakes and failures – instead of getting discouraged, try to see mistakes and failures as opportunities to learn and grow. This can help you to approach problems with a more open and creative mindset. Even following one or two on the above can help boost creative clarity this new year.
